چکیده
Drought is one of the most complex and poorly understood catastrophes on planet. Between Greek mainland Turkey, there an area Greece known as South Aegean Islands, that experiences water supply issues. As a result, are issues related to socioeconomic growth some these islands, need for transportation by vessels. Water ships Cyclades Dodecanese areas from or other adjacent islands satisfy urgent demands, hand, exceptionally expensive. The situation deteriorates during summer, when drinking needs can reach five times norm, due heavy tourist season. Given conditions, aim this research estimate hydrometeorological calculate balance, determine in three southern (Mykonos, Naxos, Kos), where shortage, particularly summer months tourism activity at its peak. modified Thornthwaite–Mather monthly hydrological balance model was applied balance. Various use datasets (drinking water, irrigation, transportation) were employed quantify demands islands. According results, available (runoff + infiltration) seems be more than sufficient meet Naxos Kos, since it far exceeds increased Yet, appears Mykonos, resources have been nearly entirely utilized, just enough needs. It evident all present significant sources which could growing residents. However, absence necessary exploitation projects, mainly concerning surface runoff, has contributed intense problems importance harvesting projects becomes even under conditions climate change, with decrease annual rainfall likely highly possible scenario, especially arid semi-arid regions.

Peach Water Relations, Gas Exchange, Growth and Shoot Mortality under Water Deficit in Semi-Arid Weather Conditions
In this study the sensitivity of peach tree (Prunus persica L.) to three water stress levels from mid-pit hardening until harvest was assessed. Seasonal patterns of shoot and fruit growth, gas exchange (leaf photosynthesis, stomatal conductance and transpiration) as well as carbon (C) storage/mobilization were evaluated in relation to plant water status. A simple C balance model was also develo...
متن کاملInvestigation of Sedimentation of Small Catchments under Precipitation Pattern and Basin Characteristics in Arid and Semi-Arid Climate
Splash (raindrop) erosion plays an significant role in soil loss, especially in arid and semi-arid regions with poor vegetation. In this paper, by analyzing the pattern of rainfalls that occurred during 26 years in four basins located in Semnan County, their effect on the pattern of eroded sediments from the basin was investigated. Sedimentary layers from the sampling of retarding reservoir sed...
متن کاملSimulation of the catchments hydrological processes in arid, semi-arid and semi-humid areas
Hydrological processes and their spatial distribution directly are relevant to climate, topography, geology, and land use in the watershed. Therefore, use of a model whit integrity and high performance for simulating the process in deferent watersheds is very important. In this study was assessment performance of semi-distributed SWAT model in simulating hydrology processes in three watersheds ...

In a three-year (2004-2006), field experiment, we aimed to study changes in leaf physiological traits (leaf water potential-Ψleaf, leaf water content-LWC, carbon isotope discrimination-Δ, specific leaf area-SLA, chlorophyll content as assessed by SPAD and modified SPAD-MSPAD) and elemental composition (K, Na, Ca, Mg, K/Na, Ca/Mg, total leaf salinity-TLS) of sugar beets (cv. Rizor) grown unde...
